That Fast?? April 30, 2003

Wowee! My last day of work. Now that I’m leaving REAL soon, I can’t find the heart to say “so long suckers!!” as I have wished to earlier. There are many fine people here and I will miss the good times. Especially those involving foods… Heeh. The last couple of weeks I’ve tried my best to squeeze in as many happy hour as possible between work and sleep but still there’s much to do and see. It’s like I’m just about to leave the banquet table with a full tummy only to notice the dessert assortments in the corner of the room. Aiya. Next time, Gadget, next time…

By the way, the school has just informed our Ms. Ah Lian here that her music audition is on May 13. Hmmm, I’m not anxious about it. In fact I’m suddenly hoping I won’t make it so that I’ll pretend to be sooo disappointed and find an excuse to disappear to another country. Heehaw. Right now, I’m still deciding what to do with my Skinikat :( Over lunch yesterday another cat owner told me how she put her cats to sleep when she left home because no one wanted to take care of them. And for a few crazy seconds I thought it was not a bad idea. She said the vet injected some goromokson or whatever poison through the cats’ paw and toing! they went to cat heaven… Like I said for a few crazy seconds I contemplated on doing the same thing to my darling since no one wants this particular dark and vicious cat. But NOOO, Ah Lian is no fool! She remembers the Hukum Sepuluh and the now burning line that says “Thou shalt not kill”. Except maybe for food? Ehehehe…

I can feel this entry will go on forever if I don’t stop now. I shall continue my babbling next month or when the moon is less round and bright… Goodnight. Amen. Venekam.

If you’re taking an essay exam on geography, and the exam could be on any of the countries in the world, study only one country, and know it well. Let’s say you choose China. When it comes time for the exam, and the question is, “Write 1,000 words on Nigeria,” you begin your essay, “Nigeria is nothing like China…” and proceed to write everything you know about China.Quentin Crisp

Change April 16, 2003

If this webpage were another plant of mine, it would have withered away (again!) from lack of attention… But I’ll admit I won’t be able to write much for the next couple of weeks. So pardon m’wa. On other news, I’m still waiting for the formal “OK you’re in” respond to my study application but for certain I’m making my exit from MC early May. It’s with anticipation that I go through this little transition… Yeah, I know there’ll be frustrations to take and compromises to make along the way but I know I’ll be in good hands. Life is not easy. I still have lots to learn and I know I’ll change–hopefully for the better. Hmmm, growing older is not too bad at all, come to think of it… You acquire new skills, experiences and gain better confidence in yourself and people. Don’t worry too much about wrinkles, dark eyes, back aches or grey hairs. They are merely ribbons to the package. Anyways, ada kadai urut bah gaman… makeup and concealers are aplenty (plastic surgeries are available but optional). Also lots of fantastic colours to choose from to dye your original hair root. Hahaha! So, come, come… let’s drink and be merry!

SARS April 4, 2003

Filed under: Musing — whanita @ 11:30 pm

Been feeling rather haggard and old lately. Could be the combination of warm weather, lack of sleep and the many loose ends to tie before May. Nah, those are excuses. I’m really am haggard and old. Even bar-b-qued chicken drumsticks the size of Africa won’t ease my pain… Ahaks! *wipe drools* Anyways, I tried sleeping from 7 pm yesterday till 7 am today. Woke up several times–to pick up the phone, let Skinikat in, shower, and whine in the dark because of the heat. Life is so like that. Full of interruptions. I’m still voraciously reading the news for the updates on SARS. I’ve cancelled my trip to KL next week. My second trip of two cancelled this month. See how scaredy-cat I am about travelling now? If no diseases kill me one of these days, I probably died outta fear. In the meantime, I look forward to shop in crowded Bangkok this Sunday. Hihihi! Hepi wik’en

Of Virus and Wars April 1, 2003

So, there’s war on the other side of the globe. I read the news these days not so much for the Saddam-Bush affair in the desert. Whatever politics behind the war I find it complicated to understand. In fact, can’t even find the effort to want to know. Right now, I’m more captivated by the news about the elusive bug threatening Asia (and the rest of the world) with illness and death. As of now, 59 died and 1,600 infected. There’s nothing more vulnerable then the fight for survival between man and nature. Virus kill to live. No ulterior motives except maybe to propagate and fill the earth. I think we have enough pestilence like that around us. They make man-made war seem silly and unnecessary. Given the chance for world domination, aided by other natural disasters, they can devastate mankind off their pants, their money, their idols and their dreams… (cut off 30-minutes worth of rambling)… Hmm. Life is damn short. I’ll be afraid of death if I’m not ready to die. Damn, just let me live in peace, please.
